Lonely

I guess we all feel it

That feeling, you know

As if we’re each in tunnels

Side by side

With Thick cement walls

That drown out all sounds but you

They echo off the infinite walls

Ping ponging down the long way

Blocking the path that leads out

Making the light feel too faraway

And the sounds, foreign and far

You think are the others

who’ve left their tunnels

Maybe they were never there at all

So you silence your echoes

To descend up

To the world of the unlonely

This will be your liberation, surely

But as you breach the light

You see

The sounds you hear

Are nothing but the echoes

Ping ponging down

Your neighbors tunnel

Morphed into something imagined

Something altogether new

That no one feels

Most certainly not you

Gorgeous Beast

Dormant and hidden

Lies a beast

A beast afraid to leave

Afraid she’ll destroy everything in her path

Untethered and unchained

The walls she’s built to keep others safe

Will do nothing in her wake

And then the beast will be alone

Because she’s destroyed everything

As if she’s a cyclone

But I’m told she’s a beautiful beast

A gorgeous beast

A beast whose pain

Is worth her beauty

So maybe I just crack the door

Let a sliver of day into her dark cave

And see if she wants to come out and play
